The gifts that we bring to our King

We often get asked the question: How is Church Plant Media any different than other web design companies? As we advertise on our home page banner: Simply put, we build (awesome) web sites for churches. However, the difference is not in what that says, but in what that means to our team. To plumb this even deeper, we are actually building web sites for Jesus and His Church. We posture our hearts as the magi did 2,000 years ago...
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” . . . After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:1-2, 9-11 ESV)
In the same way, we have come to worship Him, this King born in Bethlehem. The gifts that we bring to our King are our designs, our code, our development, our communications, our conversations, and our ongoing care for our partners. Our hearts beat together with the little drummer boy... We are poor in spirit and we have no gifts to bring that are fit to give a King, but we play "our drum" for Him, and we play our best for Him.
We also identify with what the Scottish Olympian, Eric Liddell, said in the movie Chariots of Fire: "I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure." We feel the Savior's smile as we build awesome web sites for His people.
That is how we are different... by design.
Little Drummer Boy
Come, they told me (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
A newborn king to see (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
Our finest gifts we bring (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
To lay before the king (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum) [x 3]
So, to honor Him (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
When we come
Little baby (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
I am a poor boy too (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
I have no gifts to bring (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
That's fit to give a king (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum) [x 3]
Shall I play for you (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
On my drum?
Mary nodded (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
The ox and lamb kept time (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
I played my drum for Him (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
I played my best for Him (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum) [x 3]
Then, He smiled at me (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
Me and my drum
